Banjir in Shah Alam

Bandar Shah Alam was flooded on Sunday due to a heavy early morning downpour at abt 4am. One of the surprises in recent days apart from the price hike. Pity those guys living especially in bt jelutong area, including my friend poke who just got back from haj.

Another demonstration of what power Allah swt can unleash to us the mere mortals. And, its quite sad to note some of the residents there got their motor vehicles damaged since the water rose to on average about chest deep.

Alhamdulillah, the rest of us in Selangor were spared the wrath. But, Ina & me were heading towards shah alam that day. When we reached bt 3 toll, all traffic were making a u-turn at the divider. So, we follow suit. I tried checking the radio stations but no broadcast on the news whatsoever.

I can understand that we are powerless to avert such disaster but at least the public should be well & adequately informed. Plus didn't bother to put up any signs that banjir is the cause. The radios were not requested to broadcast timely information on status updates.

At least, those intending to come to shah alam can be adviced to pick another day. Thats 2 hours of my precious time being wasted on the road, man. When will we ever learn. Do you need somebody to die to grab attention.

Another hike in fuel price

Harga minyak naik lagi!! The nation suddenly woke up this morning realising that petrol price increases yet again. It was rm1.62 per litre yesterday, today its rm1.92. rm0.30 hike or 18.5% up. Whoa!!

Isi minyak moto pun harini pun needed RM8 to fill the tank instead of my normal rm7. And, its not totally empty yet. I am amazed at the level of quietness that the govt has invoked the hike. It totally caught me by surprise. A lot of people was expecting the effect date to be 1/3/06, hmm,hmm..

Even diesel is priced at about rm1.50!! But i guess that is ok since it will alleviate the differential price vs thai especially to combat fuel pirates.

But what can we the mere mortal do to sustain ever increasing living cost. Migrate to solar. Yeah, right??

Business minds

Had a meeting today with ng kim huat, evp of mayban fortis together with azizi, nasha, maun & hamzah. it was a good maeeting since we averted the danger of the ebi project in tn being put on hold.

all they wanted was to have us reconsider bringing in mayban fortis into the brd session so as to allow a more wholesome ebi solution vs the eventual merged entity.

nasha was dissapointed that we did not use the meeting to put in a possible vo since we need to review project timeline a bit to revisit document that needs mayban input. he says that we r not business minded....

Looking for something

A poor man was sitting in his house & suddenly realised that he lost his money. He wanted to look for it but his house is without any electrical supply. He decides to search nevertheless but began looking under a street light just around the corner.

A passer-by noticed him bending around in his attempt. "What are you looking for?", he asked. "I'm looking for my money", the poor man answered. The good samaritan decides to help the poor man in his search. Soon, several other people stopped by & also helped to look around for the money under the street light.

Suddenly one of the helpers asked,"Where exactly have you lost your money?". "Inside my house!", the poor man answered calmly. "What! Why don't you just look for the money there!!", all the helpers exclaimed.

"You must be joking. How do you expect to find anything there, there is no light in my house."

The moral of the story:
Some of us realised that we have lost something. We have the urge to look for it but decided to look for it only in places we find it to our convenience. Ulama says until qiyama we will not be finding it. It is important to look at the right place even though it may demand more efforts.
